Avis used to live on the edge of Dartmoor and has now moved to Melbourne, Australia. She is a ceramacist and silversmith and hand-makes many of her own beads whilst also gathering beads from ancient cultures and rare collections.
After attending Art College, specialising in ceramics and silversmithing, Avis was then awarded the Goldsmiths Hall Scholarship to study silversmithing in Holland. She later returned to study ceramics at the John Cass College, London.
Avis is also a freelance designer and illustrator but since moving to Australia she has decided to concentrate on her jewellery.
